A little about me
In case you missed it on the home page. I’m Rob Mayes, (I also, mostly online, go by the name Mohunky) I’m a graphic and web designer based just outside Bristol in the historic seaside town of Clevedon. Basically, I love to design things. Pretty much anything in fact, from websites and brochures through to business cards and I have been known to do the odd wedding invite.
I started learning design, back in the day, at the City of Bristol College, adventuring ear deep in the realms of flash based web design and animation. After college I took, what I thought to be, a break from the design world and started as the main glass engraver of a local engraving business. Turns out, glass engraving was more relevant than I first thought, giving me a very unique perspective on typesetting and typography.
After my adventures with transparent design I managed to land myself squarely back into the design world as the in-house designer at the UK branch of an international business. I hung around this corporate environment for a few years designing everything from their brochures and adverts to project managing and launching their new 200+ page website.
Corporate and in-house life was cosy but I wanted to expand my skills and take on a wider variety of work and clients so I took the leap into life as a freelancer. So here I am, loving the freedom and variety of being a freelance designer and getting a little too excited about each new job that lands in my inbox.
