The Brief

BikeStyle, a bike shop based in Clevedon, came to us with a very out of date, non-mobile friendly website that they had no access to and were unable to update.

The brief was pretty simple, take the existing BikeStyle logo, brand colours, and overall look and feel of the shop and create a fully editable and user friendly website using Umbraco that both the owner and customers could easily use.

The main goal was to get more people into the physical store, using elements of eCommerce but with no actual online sales. BikeStyle wanted to keep the bike store local and face to face to provide that additional level of support to their customers.

The Process

This was a pretty natural and fun process. mohunky founder, Rob Mayes, is an enthusiastic mountain biker so this was a great combination of two passions. We started with the usual basics of mapping out preferred user journeys and wireframing, with a simple goal in mind - to get people in store. We quickly narrowed down two user priorities of those visiting the site. Those that wanted to see if an item was in stock in store or those that wanted to get their bike serviced.

The Outcome

We found a steady growth over time after the website went live. Bike sales went up and more people started arriving from further afield. Bike shop enquiries were normally based around Clevedon, Nailsea, Portishead & Weston Super Mare, however, BikeStyle saw calls started to come in from further afield asking if they could take payment over the phone and ship across country. The workshop kept getting busier and website traffic kept increasing. BikeStyle wanted the friendly local bike shop vibe and the website expanded their reach.

Ongoing Support

We didn't hand over the website and leave it there. We regularly work with BikeStyle updating content and product images. Switching banners and leading imagery to match the new season and continuous stream of new products in the mountain biking industry. Something the client can do themselves but preferred to hand over to mohunky to maintain.

We manage website hosting and email hosting for BikeStyle.

We also keep an eye on Google Analytics and Search Console to ensure BikeStyle stays up the rankings for local searches and help out with Social Media marketing when there's something exciting to shout about.
