The Brief
To replace a failing Wordpress website with a freshly redesigned and developed website for Greek Island Retreats. To allow easier content & property management, increase online presence and increase overall bookings. With a long-term goal to reduce reliance on expensive third party suppliers and systems.
The Process
We started with the property detail view, these pages are the key selling area. We spent a lot of time researching and understanding exactly what users would want to see when they book a villa, including anything and everything we could think of. We then compressed it back down to a more functional & manageable quantity and arranged it all by importance.
We then moved onto how the properties fit into the rest of the website, how the users find the properties and what else might be needed to support them and the user experience as a whole. While doing that we started to think about how best to manage all this content, how to arrange it in Umbraco so that it is easily editable and scalable.
Once all that was out of the way we broke into the actual design, a few revisions and tweaks later and it was time to code.
The Outcome
We completed a reasonably soft launch of the new website, no launch campaign or party poppers, so we were pleasantly surprised when the first bookings started landing within a few hours of the switch. This quickly became an immediately noticeable increase in bookings and leads through the website. Exactly what we had intended but way better than we had estimated.
Beyond the front-end, the client has been able to efficiently amend and add properties with minimal assistance from us.
Mission accomplished!
Rob was introduced to me by a previous guest when I was looking to have a new website built for our villa rental company. Since then he has put together a great new website with everything I asked for and continues to offer support and advice as and when needed, always picks the phone up and is suspiciously cheery even with newborn twins.
Guests tell me the site is easy to navigate and find the exact villa for their holiday, and just as important, I also find it easy to add to and revise when needed. I would certainly recommend Rob and his company Mohunky and have already done so to several of my friends.
